Changes to the appointment booking system for GP's and Nurse Practitioners (June 2019)
Due to an increase in the number of patients failing to attend appointments booked in advance the Practice is changing its appointment system so more appointments will only be available to book on the day. The Practice will operate an emergency triage assessment service with a GP or nurse practitioner for patients requiring an urgent medical assessment on the day who are unable to book an appointment.

From July 1st 2019 the surgery will be offering pre-bookable appointments from 7am on Mondays

The New ‘Health Hub’ Planned For Central Buxton
It is important to note that the Buxton Advertiser article suggests that the 3 GP practices in Buxton “will be involved in the project”.
We are excited about the prospect but as yet, nothing is agreed regarding our future location and there’s some way to go yet!
We look forward to working with our friends at the other practices and elsewhere to help progress the scheme. We will, however, put the best interests of our patients first in making any decisions.

Derbyshire CCG Self Care Policy
Self-care is widely acknowledged as an important solution to managing demand and keeping the NHS sustainable. Supporting people to self-manage common conditions such as coughs and colds could help bring down the 57 million GP consultations each year for minor ailments, a situation which costs the NHS approximately £2 billion and takes up to an hour a day on average for every GP.

2017 NHS GP Survey
Great news! The 2017 NHS GP Patient Survey shows that Elmwood has improved in the two headline categories: 93% of our patients think the surgery is good/fairly good compared to 88% in 2016 and 88% would recommend the practice to others compared to 78% in 2016. The staff here are constantly trying to improve services for patients and respond to their needs and it is gratifying that the survey results show we are heading in the right direction. You can now access free WiFi at Elmwood Surgery. Look for network NHS WiFi then go to your browser and follow the prompts. There is no charge for this service.

This is a new service to provide care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, who are experiencing difficulties, who wish to be supported in the comfort of their own home.

View Medical Record
You can now view parts of your GP medical record through Patient Online – this is known as enhanced access. To request access, please read through the notes in the document below and bring the form to Reception together with your ID. Please note that because you are requesting additional access, you will need to show your ID even though you may have shown it before. Request Medical Record Access
Take your own Blood Pressure
We now have a blood presure machine in reception so that you can take your own BP without the need for an appointment. Just drop in! It is situated in the "pram park". It is easy to use and the instructions are easy to follow.
Every Patient Has A Named GP
Every patient now has a named GP. This is the GP who will co-ordinate your practice-based care. Your GP's name appears on any prescription that is issued to you. You can also ask any member of the practice staff to confirm who your named GP is. This doesn't restrict which doctor you can ask to see when you make an appointment.
